Hello from Louisiana!

Louisiana you say...yep working on the road with my company. When I arrived last Sunday we were working in New Orleans and our hotel was located directly on Bourbon Street nonetheless. Here's a pic of it:

I only got to spend one evening on Bourbon Street - wow what a happening and eye opening place that is to be. I didn't take my camera with me when we went out that night...so I have no crazy night life or incriminating photos...hehe. Although here's a photo of a local patron: Yeah I jumped when I first saw him too.
I wish I would have had more time there to explore the Garden District and French Quarter. All of the iron work around that area is gorgeous. Here's a couple pics I snapped the day were were leaving.

So now we are stationed in Houma, LA which is about 1 hour and 45 minutes SW of New Orleans - about 2 hours from Texas. Here's a pic of my office - try not to be envious.

Another week and I start my vacation. Who knows what will be in store for me when I return....maybe Texas.

A little surprise...

I came home The other night to a surprise propped up on my door stop. The box just said "from Mom" on it. I opened it to about 200 white cardboard ovals. Surprise! My mom works for a company that processes and packages display pieces for stores. Apparently these little ovals were popped out of some of the displays and were going to be discarded.

She was allowed to bring them home - only if I would make something for the 3 other ladies that helped her gather them. So here's a start on some little witches - a work in progress.

I've been working on some projects for the Autumn Artsy Swap that I'm in. Here's a little sneak peak for Janice my partner in the swap. I can't wait to show you more later next week once the swap mailing is complete.

Remember that vintage greeting card display I bought a couple weeks ago? Well Simon likes it too...for naps.

Candy!

Only 3 days left to post a comment for candy! So far I only have 2 comments and have to say, I'm feeling a bit sad :( Now you don't want Bev and / or Joyce to get all of the goodies do you?

We are 1!

I completely missed my 1st birthday...Create a way turned 1 on September 6th. Boy I remember that craziness that I was in this time last year with all of the wedding planning. Soooooo glad I'm done with that.

So in belatedly celebrating our birthday I'm offer candy! Blogger candy! I'm not exactly sure how many people read my blog other than my adorable friends, so now is your time to chime in. Leave me a comment between now and Friday the 19th - say hi, let me know what you like, what you don't, etc. A comment will be picked at random and a fun little package will be on it's merry way to your door.
Good luck!

Vintage goods...

Today we went to a local arts festival in Saxonburg. My favorite thing about the festival is that all of Main Street is closed down and it becomes a sidewalk sale from end to end. Lots of little shops and antiques line the street. Sadly though some of the antique shops I use to visit are gone. One of the shops was having a closing sale. As sad as I am to see them close, I was o so happy to find a major score there. I found this: How fun is this? A vintage Gibson greeting card store display. It wasn't marked, although there was a sign that said "Vintage Greeting Cards $1". I asked and one of the owners said "$15 including the cards". Umm a yeah it took me all of a milisecond to say "I'll take it". I happily almost skipped back to the car with my prize. Bill my dear husband however didn't quite share my excitement. He just shook his head. He knows about my collection obsession. So after I got it home I started to dig through the box and counted over 130 cards and some old letters from 1952 that were a pretty funny read.

I was surprised to find some had made and decorated, with a decorative edge, ribbon old envelopes that someone and clippings from greeting cards.

I also picked up some neat old books from the library book sale that I got for the price of a donation. I also picked up a couple of early Christmas gifts but they can't be revealed. hehe....

Although I've taken a mini break this week from crafting, I've done some gathering. I've been sailing...yard sailing. Here's some of the other goodies I've found lately: Yumm-o!

My faithful helper Emily thinks so too!
